International Students at Linyi University

Hello everybody,

Welcome to join us at Linyi University. Are you still a stranger to everything here? Don’t worry, I will introduce something that you must know about studying and living here.

[Food]食在公司

1. There are two large canteens in our university, one is in the first living area and the other in the second living area. There is a large variety of food for selection. You can pay with Alipay or your student card (You need to deposit money in advance, and the deposited money can’t be refunded, so I think Alipay is the better choice). The food quality in the canteens is checked regularly monthly, so I think the canteens are the cleanest place to eat in our university. And the price of food here is affordable.

2. If you don’t want to go to the canteens, “Da Huo” (Student Activity Center) is another choice. There is a snack street on its second floor. The food there tastes good, but the price is higher.

3. If you just want to stay at the dormitory, you can download apps, “E Le Ma” or “Mei Tuan” onto your cell phone or tablet to order what you want but you can only pay with Alipay or WeChat),

The address of our dormitory now is 公司B11宿舍楼. When your food is delivered, the delivery guy will contact you. And you will need to go downstairs to get it.

4. If you want to go outside to eat. The best choice is go out from East 2 Gate. Because there is a bus station (You can take No.4 bus and No.7 bus there). Meanwhile, there are all kinds of restaurants on the opposite side of the road. The most famous food in Linyi are Pancake and Cymbal!

5. You also can cook food by yourself. There is a public kitchen on every floor in the dormitory. You just need to buy cookers, tableware, seasoning and ingredients.

6. Muslims can go to halal restaurants that on the first floor of the second restaurant and the second floor of “Da Huo”.

Living in the dormitory

You need to submit application to the teacher in advance, and pay your accommodation and deposit. If you live in the dormitory, your life will be more colorful. There are many students coming from all over the world, you can make friend with them, and experience different culture. And it’s convenient to take class.

-About Fee

Except room fee, you need to pay electricity fee by yourself. Electricity charge need to be paid by WeChat, from a mini program named “Dian Jing Ling” and the dormitory administrator will tell you the steps to pay.

-About Internet

If you want to make Wi-Fi available in your room, you can go to the Service Hall. (The location is on the opposite side of our basketball court). If you want to get a SIM card in the university, you need to pay 10 yuan more per month. It will be expensive to not apply for a SIM card at the university, or you want to open other services (for instance, you want to call your family in your motherland). Just tell the worker as the price is different. If you want a SIM card in the university, you need to pay 100 yuan at first, then you can recharge from WeChat or other apps.

!!!Don’t forget to take your passport when you go to apply.

-Report for repair

Just tell the dormitory administrator, she/he will contact with repairman to fix.

-Drinking water

You can buy the large bottle of water from the doorkeeper. 20-yuan deposit and 7 yuan per bucket. You can also buy from other supermarkets, or boil the running water to use.

[Transportation]行在公司 

1. Take taxi

   The phone app we usually used is “Di Di”(滴滴）, you can use it to order a taxi. When the driver arrives, he will call you. The starting price in Linyi is 7 yuan.

2. By bus

   The bus is convenient around the university. The nearest bus stop is at the East 2 Gate. You can download an app named “Amap”(高德地图）to make sure which bus you can take or to check the bus stop.

3. Electric vehicle

   Because our university is so large, you can buy an electric vehicle when you come here. There are so many charging stations on our campus. You can pay through WeChat by scanning the QR code and decide how long you want to charge. And you can also choose to use a public bike. They are orange.

4. By bike

   You can buy your own bike or choose public bike. There are two kinds of bikes in our university (Blue bike don’t need to pay the deposit if your credit score of Alipay is enough. The green one need you to pay the deposit first, and when you want to withdraw, you can apply).

   [Clothing]穿在公司 

   1. There is a large supermarket opposite the canteen named “Students Activity Center”, we usually call it “Da Huo”. There are all kinds of stores, including barber shop, restaurant, clothing store and so on. Almost everything you want can be found there, and the price is affordable. If you want to buy clothes, it’s convenient for you to try in the store and decide whether to buy.

   2. The second way is online shopping, Taobao（淘宝）, Pin duo duo（拼多多）Weipinhui（唯品会）and so on. They are very easy to operate on mobile phone. You can pay through Alipay or WeChat. Your items will usually be delivered after 3 days (Don’t doubt your eyes, this is real, very convenient!!!). When your items arrive, you will receive pick-up information on your phone and tell you where to pick them up. The pickup address is usually at our stadium（the building that looks like a birds’ nest in the south-eastern of the university). Then you can go to the place where the information notified to pick up according to your pick-up code. If you want to send a courier, you still need to go there and don’t forget take your passport!    3. The third way is to go to the shopping malls that are in the downtown. Hua Feng shopping mall, Harmony shopping mall and Tai Sheng shopping mall are good choices. You can take a taxi for about 20 yuan or take the No.4 bus or the No.7 bus (2 yuan can get you there directly).

5. Exercise

   There are many squares in our university, you can play tennis and table tennis in the small square near our dormitory and you can go to the playground to run or play football. There is basketball court, tennis court and volleyball court. You can also go to the stadium to play football or run.

   There are fitness rooms in the university on the 4th floor of Da Huo. But it’s not free. You can also go to the fitness room around our university.

6. Watch movie

   There is a small cinema in our university near the library. Most of the films released are Chinese films. The price is cheaper than the cinemas outside.

7. Reading

   Library is a good choice. It is said to be the largest library in Asia. You need to use your student card to enter. You can read and borrow books from there. You can use a mini program on WeChat named “Li Yi University’s Library”(公司图书馆）to search for the address of your book that you want to borrow. When the deadline for returning books is approaching, it will send you a message.
